  • Acquisition & licensing landscape for technologies in fertility & women’s health

Challenge:

In order to better review potential acquisition and licensing opportunities, a pharma company asked Alacrita to landscape the companies, medical devices, digital technologies, research tools and therapeutic products in the areas of fertility and women’s health. The pharma company wanted to understand how each product could complement its existing pipeline; we therefore presented the value proposition for each product and estimated a potential acquisition price.

Solution

Alacrita agreed the structure and content of the opportunity landscape database of potential acquisition/licensing products. We then took the following steps to build the database using information from the client, public domain data and information from pharma databases:
  • Detailed for each product in the sector, developing/marketing company background, product details, mechanism of action, stage of development;
  • Presented either current sales or projected peak sales for each product, taking into account the probability of success if still in development stage;
  • Proposed a potential acquisition price for the product, and an opinion on how valuable the product could be within the existing company pipeline or as a diversification opportunity.
